My Eyebrow Journey

Updated: Dec 4, 2022

I am an eyebrow specialist so I should have perfect brows right? Well the truth is I did have lovely full eyebrows once upon a time. As a young child and throughout my teens and being of Asian background I was gifted with lots of hair! To the point at the age of 12, I became conscious of my mono-brow! For those of you who don't know what that is, it is when your eyebrows start joining together with hair in between.

So what did I do? I took to the tweezers! Actually my mum helped me by doing the first lot of tweezing, but then I became a bit obsessed! Before I knew it I was tweezing every few days.

Then of course the 1990's trend took hold and I didn't look out of place at all. In fact I liked my thinner shape.

Threading then became more established here in the UK and it soon became more accessible to pop into a threading bar rather than tweezing at home.

After having my children, I found I didn't really have the time to see to my eyebrows as often and fortunately they had a chance to grow back a bit.

However I was always conscious about my shape, which was basically a shapeless brow with not much of an arch.

Threading no longer did it for me, as I could never achieve the shape a really wanted. All the threading girls did was remove hair, not shape properly.

At that point I decided that I could do a much better job myself and trained to become a brow artist. I guess my degree in Art helped me massively!

I finally got to the point where I liked my brows again, they were fuller and I managed to give myself a better shape.

BUT, then older age started to take hold and my brow hairs started to thin out. This was due to me going through 'Perimenopause', stress of running my own business and possibly other factors.

I am a Phibrows Microblading Artist and the frustration of not being to microblade my own brows became really frustrating. Microblading is a specialist treatment which requires skill to create super fine strokes that resemble real hair. There was no way I could possibly do it on myself with my eyes shut!!

So after looking through the contacts that I have made in the business I called upon a fellow artist to help me out and I now finally have a lovely full shape again!

In my next post I will be telling you all about my microblading journey and what it was like being on the receiving end! So stay tuned!
