FAQ FOR MICROBLADING PROCEDURE
Am I ready for semi-permanent brows?
WHAT IS MICROBLADING?
Microblading is a way of creating hyper-realistic eyebrow hair strokes using a hand tool called a microblade that has ultra fine needles. With each precise stroke, pigment ink is deposited into the dermal layer of the skin, creating a semi-permanent tattoo. The procedure is also referred to as eyebrow embroidery, feather brows, micro-stroking or nanoblading. This procedure is ideal for those that have sparse brows and want to make them fuller, or fill any gaps from hair loss or thinning. Some people may loose brow hair completely due to cancer treatment or Alopecia and therefore opt for microblading. Phibrows microblading aims to create very natural looking brows, so no-one would ever know they are not real hairs.
WHY CHOOSE PHIBROWS?
Phibrows Artists are trained to the highest standards and are able to create the most finest, detailed hair stroke patterns using top quality blades and pigments. Phibrow artists create a shape that is according to the Golden or divine proportion of your face. Phiacademy is world renowned and Artists are trained by the best Masters in the industry.
HOW LONG WILL MY SEMI-PERMANENT BROWS LAST?
Well this actually depends on skin type and aftercare. For someone with normal skin who strictly follows the aftercare advise, it should last around 18 months to 2 years, before a top up is required to refresh the colour. It may not last as long for someone with oilier skin, very dry or aged skin and if aftercare is not strictly followed. Every person is unique, so it really depends how each person's skin holds and handles the pigment.
After the initial treatment a touch up will be required with 60 days and it usually recommended to refresh the strokes after 12 to 18 months.
HOW LONG DOES THE ACTUAL PROCEDURE TAKE?
IS MICROBLADING SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE?
The microblading appointment will usually be 3hrs long. This includes time to review consultation notes, mapping of brows which can take up to an hour and the microblading itself. During the microblading procedure, there is no down time so you will need to be able to lay still, flat on the treatment bed for approximately 2 hours. (time for relaxation or a nap!) Client care is my priority, so I will always ensure my clients are comfortable at all times.
Microblading is not suitable for those with the following:
who are under 18 years old
Pregnant or breastfeeding
Diabetes
Auto immune disorders
Cancer treatment
Eczema, Dermatitis or Psoriasis present in the brow area
Have evidence of Keloid (raised) scarring
Any other serious medical conditions, such as Haemophilia, Heart conditions
etc.
There may be other instances where a delay in having the procedure is recommended, but this will be determined at the consultation.
WILL I NEED TO PREPARE FOR THE TREATMENT?
WHAT WILL I NOT BE ABLE TO DO AFTER TREATMENT?
At the consultation, you will have a patch test carried out to determine any reactions to the pigments and creams to be used. You will also be given a preparation list to follow prior to your treatment. 24hrs before treatment it is recommended to avoid Caffeine, Alcohol, spicy food and strenuous exercise.
IS MICROBLADING PERMANENT?
Microblading is not permanent like a conventional tattoo is. This is because the pigment is not implanted as deep into the dermal layer of the skin, as done with a tattoo needle. Therefore Microblading is semi-permanent and will start fading with time.
The initial healing phase can take up to 10 days and in this time it is advised NOT to:
Scrub, rub or pick at your brows
Use any make-up on the brows
Go swimming or use steam rooms, saunas or jacuzzis.
Do strenuous exercise that causes perspiration
Wax, thread, tweeze, tint or bleach brows
Sit in direct sunlight, sunbathe or use tanning rooms
Use any creams other than what is provided by your artist
You will also be advised of longer term care to ensure the best possible outcome for your new brows.
